Staff and board leaders from the Fairness Campaign and ACLU of Kentucky visited Washington, D.C. on Friday, December 2 to participate in a White House Convening on Advancing LGBT Progress in Rural America hosted by The White House Rural Council. Fairness Campaign Director Chris Hartman was one of four panelists at the convening to discuss the successes and challenges Kentucky leaders have experienced in LGBT rural organizing.
The meeting focused on strategies to improve quality of life, increase opportunity, and enhance connectivity for rural LGBT Americans.
The Fairness Campaign and ACLU of Kentucky work in a collaborative partnership across the Commonwealth of Kentucky called the Fairness Coalition, which also includes the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights and Lexington Fairness.
Prior to the White House Convening staff of the ACLU of Kentucky and Fairness Campaign met with Hon. John Yarmuth in his D.C. office.
