The ACLU of Kentucky works year-round to make sure all Kentuckians who want to cast a ballot are able to do so.  Now it’s your turn to lift up your voice to help shape the direction of the commonwealth by voting in the primary election on Tuesday, May 17th.  Visit the Secretary of State's Voter Information Center here for more details.  
To vote in Kentucky you must be registered 29 days prior to the election and:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and a Kentucky resident for at least 28 days before the election; and
  • Be at least 18 years old by the next General Election; and
  • Not be a convicted felon, or else have had your civil rights restored.

Election Day Tips
Polls will be open 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. local time.  Anyone in line by 6 p.m. will be given the opportunity to vote. All voters must provide identification, or be known by a precinct officer prior to voting.  Acceptable types of ID include a driver’s license, Social Security card, credit card, or another form of ID that containing both your picture and signature.
Voters with physical disability, blindness or inability to read English may request voting assistance at the polls on Election Day.
