The Time is NOW for Statewide Fairness Print E-mail
Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 7:27 pm
Years from now, the date June 17, 2009 will be seen as a landmark moment for LGBT equality in Kentucky and we want you to be a part of it.

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights will host the first educational program conducted by any state government agency in Kentucky regarding sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination within the state. The program is entitled  “A Fair Future For Kentucky:  A Call For An End To Discrimination on the Basis of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” and will reinforce the resolution passed unanimously by the Commission in 2008 endorsing the passage of a statewide fairness bill. This hearing is one of a series of public meetings the Commission has held that focuses on a particular group that is protected under the Kentucky Civil Rights Act.  While the Kentucky Civil Rights Act has not yet been amended, the Commission recognizes that it is time for continue its legacy of human rights leadership by including protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Please join us at Richmond City Hall for this historic event from 6:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, June 17.  City Hall is located at 239 W. Main Street in Richmond, KY.
