ACLU of Kentucky

Issues

  • Abolition of the Death Penalty

60% of those sentenced to die in Kentucky have had their sentences overturned because of problems at the trial court level. Our death penalty system is far too broken to fix. Repeal is the only permanent answer.

  • Immigrants' Rights

The fundamental constitutional protections of due process and equal protection embodied in our Constitution and Bill of Rights apply to every "person" and are not limited to citizens.

  • LGBT Rights

The ACLU of Kentucky has been at the forefront of equal rights for LGBT individuals since the 1950’s focusing on five key issue areas: Relationships, Schools & Youth, Parenting, Transgender, Discrimination.

  • Reproductive Freedom Project

The ACLU of Kentucky's Reproductive Freedom Project is dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive rights for all Kentuckians through education, advocacy, and litigation.

  • Voting Rights

Voting is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of democracy. Kentucky is one of only two states in the country that permanently disenfranchises all individuals with felony convictions.

  • Youth Rights

The ACLU of Kentucky youth program empowers young people to engage and advocate for the civil rights and liberties enumerated in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and United States Constitutions.
