No person should be denied access to healthcare because of who they are. This legislation failed in recent years, but will likely be filed in 2023 and gain more traction.

Legislation proposed in recent years would allow every type of healthcare institution, medical school students and staff, and employees of healthcare institutions (including doctors, nurses, counselors, assistants, receptionists, etc) to refuse to provide any service that is in conflict with their personal beliefs unless the situation is an emergency. In addition, they can refuse to refer, teach, and research. This opens the door for widespread discrimination at all levels of the healthcare system. For instance, a scheduler at a dentist's office could refuse to schedule an appointment for an LGBTQ person if doing so would violate their "beliefs.
