We're suing in federal court to prevent the gender-affirming healthcare ban portion of Senate Bill 150, one of the worst anti-trans laws in the nation.

We're suing in federal court to block the ban on essential health care for trans youth in Kentucky. Senate Bill 150, one of the worst anti-trans laws in the nation, passed during the 2023 Kentucky General Assembly. Trans youth and their families are entitled to equal protection under the law and freedom to access to the things they need to live full and authentic lives, as guaranteed by the national and state constitutions.

Senate Bill 150

The Kentucky General Assembly recently passed Senate Bill 150, one of the worst anti-trans bills in the country, by overriding Governor Beshear’s veto.

Senate Bill 150 is an egregious example of government overreach by inserting lawmakers between doctors and patients and violating the fundamental rights of parents to direct the upbringing of their children. This law prohibits essential medical care for trans youth in Kentucky by targeting health care providers and threatening them with loss of licensure if they provide that care to minors.

SB 150 is part of a national effort to enact anti-LGBTQ laws. These bills are not coming from major medical or educational groups, nor are they supported by them. These are political attacks from groups with a fundamental opposition to transgender people being able to live openly, freely, and affirmed as who they really are.

Trans people belong in Kentucky, and we will continue to fight for their right to equal protection under the law and freedom to access to the things they need to live full and authentic lives, as guaranteed by the national and state constitutions.
