The Kentucky General Assembly is in full swing and voting rights are on the table. Help us reach out to Kentuckians to ask them to urge their legislators to support the Restoration of Voting Rights Bill (House Bill 232).

Text banking is like phone banking, but you do not use your phone or phone number. We have an online platform that's free, easy to use, and is NOT connected to your phone or any personal information. You will need access to a computer or tablet to use the texting platform. We'll show you how to use it before starting the text bank.

What is restoration of voting rights?

Governor Beshear restored voting rights to roughly 175,000 Kentuckians with some past felony convictions by executive order in 2019. This was a step in the right direction, but left nearly 65,000 people behind and could be easily undone by a future governor.
Before this order, Kentucky was one of only two states that permanently barred people with past felony convictions from voting. This disenfranchised approximately 9% of otherwise eligible voters and nearly 25% of African-Americans.

Voting is a right. Not a privilege. It's time for Kentucky to join the vast majority of other states by permanently restoring voting rights. House Bill 232 would give Kentuckians the opportunity to amend Kentucky’s Constitution and restore voting rights to the thousands of Kentuckians who have been shut out. Everyone deserves a second chance.
