Forced pregnancy is cruel — forced nonviable pregnancy is unthinkable.

House Bill 467 requires hospitals to provide "perinatal palliative care," and requires health benefit plans to provide coverage for this care. This bill makes it more difficult for doctors to counsel patients with nonviable pregnancies — where the fetus will not survive gestation or after birth — to obtain an abortion. This is a cruel approach to an incredible complex and emotional situation, and the government doesn't belong in patients' private health care decisions.
