The Supreme Court pushed the country into a dangerous era for reproductive freedom when they overturned Roe and Casey earlier this year. The fight to protect abortion access has moved to the states, and the future of care in the commonwealth is at a precipice. As we navigate this new territory, your continued support is as crucial as ever.

Suzy Post and a dedicated group of advocates created the ACLU of Kentucky's Reproductive Freedom Project in 1989 to fight, protect and expand reproductive rights in Kentucky. Today, we are navigating a post-Roe America and attacks on reproductive freedom as we've never seen before.

Parking and more

Parking: Please park in the two nearby university lots that are free on Sundays.

Pandemic safety: Masks will be required and provided should you need one. The ACLU of Kentucky is following pandemic safety guidance from local, state, and federal public health officials. This event will be held in an indoor/outdoor space with plenty of fresh air, space, and outdoor seating. More information will be posted here at a later date and emailed to all registrants.

The History of the Reproductive Freedom Project and Kentucky's Future After the Fall of Roe

The Reproductive Freedom Project was launched in 1989 to defend and expand access to reproductive freedom in Kentucky. After a truly radical Supreme Court term, this work is central to restoring bodily autonomy and preserving our democracy. With the fall of Roe and Casey, several of the most intimate parts of our lives are on the line – marriage, contraception, privacy online and in our own homes, and more.

The ACLU of Kentucky’s Reproductive Freedom Project works with advocates, healthcare providers, and people directly affected by these issues. Together, we are building a coalition of engaged Kentuckians, fighting in court to protect abortion access, crafting legislation to reduce racial disparities in maternal health, and more. All Kentuckians deserve the legal rights and equitable access to resources to make the best decisions for themselves, whether that means accessing abortion care, seeking adoption, or giving birth.
