Paducah Becomes Kentucky's 9th City with LGBT Fairness

With a vote of 4-1 January 9th, Paducah (population 25,145) became the ninth Kentucky city to adopt a Fairness Ordinance, prohibiting discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people.

ACLU-KY Review Finds Serious Constitutional Issues In Public School "Bible Literacy" Classes

The American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky (ACLU-KY) has notified the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) of serious fundamental and constitutional issues with “Bible Literacy” courses in some of Kentucky’s Public Schools after an Open Records Act investigation.

Anti-LGBT Judge Found Guilty of Misconduct

Anti-LGBT Judge Mitchell Nance has been found guilty of judicial misconduct. Earlier this year, Nance issued a general order recusing himself from any adoption cases involving gay parents. The Judicial Conduct Commission issued a public reprimand. Nance resigned his seat on the bench December 16th.

Justice Work Group Issues Final Report

After weeks of study and discussion, the CJPAC Kentucky Justice Reinvestment Work Group has released their final report.  It contains 22 data-driven policy recommendations aimed at improving public safety by holding offenders accountable and reducing recidivism.
