Trump Administration Threatens to Revoke Louisville Law Enforcement Funding Over Immigration Reforcement

The Department of Justice issued letters to 29 jurisdictions, including Metro Louisville, threatening to withhold federal law enforcement grant money over these jurisdictions’ supposed non-compliance with a federal law that prohibits policies that restrict the sharing of “information regarding . . . citizenship or immigration status.”

Kentucky Reopening Private Prison Facility

The Kentucky Department of Corrections announced November 16 the reopening of the Lee Adjustment Center, a private prison facility citing “aging facilities and a growing inmate population.” The facility will be managed by CoreCivic, formerly Corrections Corporation of America (CCA).  Kentucky stopped using private prisons earlier this decade after sex abuse and mismanagement at CCA’s Kentucky facilities.
