The ACLU of Kentucky will argue before the Supreme Court of Kentucky in their case on behalf of EMW Women’s Surgical Center and Planned Parenthood, challenging two abortion bans that have been in effect for more than three months. When a single appeals court judge allowed Attorney General Daniel Cameron to resume enforcement of the six-week and “trigger” bans, abortion immediately became illegal in the state, even in cases of rape and incest.
The arguments will take place one week after Kentucky voters strongly rejected Amendment 2, which would have allowed politicians to continue enforcing bans and pass even more extreme measures by taking away the right to abortion under the Kentucky Constitution.
