Lobby to Protect Access to Abortion Care (In-Person)

January 25, 2022 @ 10:30 am 4:00 pm

Lawmakers are often influenced by talking to the people they represent. Join us at the Capitol to discuss the importance of protecting access to abortion care with Kentucky lawmakers.

The best person to make a decision about a pregnancy is the pregnant person themselves. The government should never have the authority to force a person to remain pregnant against their will.

What is a mini-lobby day?

Mini-lobby days are days when the ACLU-KY team hosts Kentuckians at the state Capitol. We believe the people most affected by a certain issue often have the best solutions. These days are great opportunities for Kentuckians from all corners of the commonwealth to share with lawmakers how their policy decisions affect the everyday lives of the people they represent. Our lobby days engage people on a range of issues, from experiences with the legal system, to pregnancy and abortion care, to immigration.

Lobby days are free and anyone can participate.

We will reimburse you for expenses required to get to Frankfort and will cover your food and any other expenses while in Frankfort. Directions on how to get to the Capitol and where to meet will be shared after you register.

If you need accessibility accommodations please reach out to ACLU-KY Campaign Coordinator Heather Ayer at HeatherA@ACLU-KY.org. We want to make our lobby day events as accessible as we can for everyone.

Pandemic safety:

Masks will be provided for all participants. Before engaging in any in-person volunteer work, we recommend taking all appropriate COVID-19-related safety precautions. We recommend in-person lobby day participants are fully vaccinated and remain masked for the entirety of the event (except when eating and drinking). If you are unable to comply, for your safety, please register for a virtual lobby day opportunity. Learn more about vaccines and where to get vaccinated at Vaccines.gov.
