FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The following statement can be attributed to ACLU-KY Policy Strategist Keturah Herron:

"We call on Attorney General Daniel Cameron – and all other elected officials – to always center the voices of directly impacted individuals when seeking solutions for the commonwealth.

We have to envision a new method of co-governance in Kentucky. Attorney General Daniel Cameron was correct that community members throughout the state have asked for a review of the processes for obtaining warrants. It is unfortunate that A.G. Cameron did not include the leaders and community members who are currently working on statewide legislation on this topic in the task force he announced on January 21, 2021. As a leader who was instrumental in the unanimous passage of Breonna’s Law in Louisville, I take great offense to this task force. We have been working tirelessly for over 6 months to ensure we do not lose another human life due to any type of warrant being served, yet A.G. Cameron has again ignored the needs of those he was elected to serve."
