The Kentucky House Transportation Committee held an informational hearing on HB 267, a measure that would allow Kentuckians, regardless of immigration status to take the written driver's test and vision test, as well as register a vehicle with the state and purchase insurance.

If you missed the hearing, you can watch a recording online here.

Photos from the hearing are online here.

Rep. Larry Clark introduced the bill.

Immigration attorney Daniel Alvarez, LMPD Officer Tulio Tourinho, UK Student Fredy Encarnacion, and recent UofL graduate Sagar Patagundi testified on behalf of the bill.

The committee showed a lot of interest in the proposal, and we plan to continue to organize around this effort in the interim. In the meantime, call your representatives on the legislative hotline at 800-372-7181, let them know you support HB 267, and encourage them to continue working on it in the next legislative session.
