The event, “Community Commitment: From Consent Decree to Community Power,” will take place Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET at the Louisville Urban League Community Room, located at 1535 W. Broadway in Louisville.

During the event, community members will hear about the history of the federal consent decree process in Louisville, the ongoing effort to pass the Community Commitment ordinance through Louisville Metro Council, and hear how they can get involved in shaping public safety reform in their communities.

The event comes as community organizations continue pushing for local accountability measures following the U.S. Department of Justice’s findings that Louisville Metro Police engaged in unconstitutional policing practices that disproportionately harmed Black residents and vulnerable communities.

Organizers say the proposed Community Commitment ordinance would help preserve reform efforts by strengthening transparency, oversight, and accountability measures at the local level.
The event is free and open to the public.
