Voting is about more than choosing candidates. It is one of the clearest ways we shape the laws, policies, and priorities that affect our everyday lives.
From free speech and privacy to reproductive freedom LGBTQ+ rights, criminal justice, and access to the ballot itself, the people we elect make decisions that can protect our freedoms or put them at risk.
That is why every election matters. Know what is at stake. Make a plan to vote. Encourage the people in your life to do the same.

Canvass With Us!
Join the ACLU of Kentucky for our electoral campaign! Our goal is to knock on 1,800 doors by Election Day. We will be talking to our neighbors about issues that are important to us and the importance of considering those issues when going to the polls to vote.
Each canvass will include a training at the beginning, so newcomers and seasoned canvassers are more than welcome!
You will receive information on the meet-up location in the week leading up to each canvass.
Canvass dates are October 3, October 24, and October 31.
The deadline to register to vote in Kentucky is October 5, 2026, at 4 pm.
2026 General Election Dates
September 19, 2026 - Mail-in Absentee Ballot Request Portal Opens
October 5, 2026 - Last Day to Register to Vote for the General Election
October 20, 2026 - Mail-in Absentee Ballot Request Portal Closes
October 21-23, 2026 - Excused, In-person Absentee Voting Begins (to check eligibility, click here)
October 26-28, 2026 - Excused, In-person Absentee Voting Continues
October 29-31, 2026 - In-Person No-Excuse Absentee Voting
November 3, 2026 - General Election Day
