  1. The Community Commitment is about safer communities for everyone.
This ordinance supports reforms that improve public safety while also protecting civil rights and reducing unnecessary harm.
  2. The DOJ findings did not disappear when federal leadership changed.
The problems identified in Louisville policing were real. Local leaders still have a responsibility to address them.
  3. Transparency and oversight build public trust.
Communities deserve clear standards and accountability systems that do not change with politics or election cycles.
  4. This ordinance supports better policing, not weaker policing.
Improved training, stronger oversight, and better crisis response help officers do their jobs more effectively while improving outcomes for residents.
  5. Communities most impacted by policing deserve a voice in reform.
Residents in historically marginalized neighborhoods have lived with the consequences of these issues for years. Their experiences and perspectives should help shape solutions.
