Senate Bill 83 did not make it out of committee this year, but we expect similar legislation to be filed in 2022 and gain more traction with lawmakers.

Senate Bill 83 could allow every type of health care institution, medical school students and staff, and employees of a health care institution (including doctors, nurses, counselors, assistants, receptionists, etc) to refuse to provide any service that is in conflict with their personal beliefs unless the situation is an emergency. In addition, they can refuse to refer, teach, and research.
