We are excited to welcome part-time, statewide LGBT rights organizer Tamarri Wieder to our staff! As the momentum toward LGBT non-discrimination (“Fairness”) efforts grows on the local and state level, there was a need to build our capacity by adding a new staff member.

Wieder, a passionate advocate for LGBT rights, has worked with the Human Rights Campaign and most recently as an HIV Health educator with Inova Health Systems. She looks forward to engaging with people on the growing list of Kentucky communities that are working toward local anti-discrimination Fairness ordinances.

“The grassroots movement toward statewide Fairness in Kentucky has really taken off this year,” shared Wieder. “I look forward to providing support to Kentuckians that are working toward securing civil rights protections for their LGBT family members, friends and neighbors.”

Wieder holds a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University and a degree in History from the University of Northern Colorado.

Wieder will work closely with the steering committee and staff of the Fairness Coalition. The Fairness Coalition consists of members and allies of the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky, Fairness Campaign, Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, and Lexington Fairness, working together to advance equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Kentuckians.
